The Institute for Broadcasting Economics is from now on an Internal University Institute - Agreement with the University of Cologne recently signed

The University of Cologne in the medium term aspires to integrate independent institutes, which they consider as important for them, and to give them the status of an internatl university institute. The Institute for Broadcasting Economics is the first institute of it's kind, for which this transformation was made: The University of Cologne in the medium term aspires to integrate independent institutes, which they consider as important for them, and to give them the status of an internal university institute. The Institute for Broadcasting Economics is the first institute of it's kind, for which this transformation was made: It is organizational affiliated to the Department of Information Systems and Information Management chaired by Prof. Dr. Detlef Schoder and with it's new status of an internal institute it has the general support of the university.

Before, there were several months of preperation between the sponsoring association ("Verein zur Förderung der Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Rundfunkökonomie e.V."), the scientific advisory board, the directorate of the institute and the University of Cologne.In a general meeting of the friends' association the agreement was discussed and decided on the 1st of July 2014. After the integration contract was signed by representatives of the University of Cologne, Prof. Axel Freimuth (rector) and Dr. Michael Stückradt (chancellor), the formal integration of the institute was completed.

From now on the Institute for Broadcasting Economics is able to focus more on content aspects, for example planning the conference in 2015 about "Media Bias". This conference will be organized in cooperation with the Institute for Media Law. More Information coming soon.
